Practical guide

Order 5 mm Stainless Steel Plate from ESC Burg

We explain how you can order your 5 mm stainless steel plate cut to size from us for every intended use.

The thicker a stainless steel plate, the heavier and also more expensive it becomes. On the other hand, load capacity increases with every millimetre of material thickness. There is no single optimum plate, but the 5 mm stainless steel plate is the right choice for many uses. It is therefore in high demand with both our private and our professional customers, and one of our best-selling items.

However, even the most ambitious hobbyist is advised to have a 5 mm stainless steel plate cut by a specialist. Due to its weight and material thickness, it is not suited to a DIY attempt with simple tools such as tin snips.

Anyone who orders from us can be sure of quickly receiving a perfectly cut stainless steel plate, which can be taken straight out of the shipping packaging and used.

Shape plays no role with us

Since we do not produce our sheets for stock but always manufacture individually to customer order, we are completely flexible regarding shape. You need a round 5 mm stainless steel plate? We can cut it for you in any diameter.

Naturally, we are also completely free regarding the size of the cut stainless steel plate - it ultimately always depends on what you want to use our 5 mm stainless steel cut for.

You simply give us the dimensions you need, and we turn them into a stainless steel plate you can use immediately.

The right 5 mm stainless steel plate for every use

We receive orders for stainless steel worktops particularly often. Our products are also popular as stainless steel plates for barbecues. Especially for outdoor kitchens, stainless steel is the optimum material - and at a thickness of 5 mm it is sufficiently stable to place heavy pots and meat platters on. After preparing the meal, the stainless steel work surfaces can be cleaned very easily and without special cleaning agents.

The good cleaning and care properties are the reason many industries rely on 5 mm stainless steel plates. The food industry in particular likes to use this high-quality sheet for building its production plants.

Why is stainless steel so popular as plate?

This question is relatively easy to answer: stainless steel can be used virtually anywhere. Moisture and high temperatures do not affect it, and even larger temperature fluctuations leave no traces of wear on 5 mm stainless steel.

Special alloys are even suitable for use in particularly demanding environments with frequent contact with acidic or alkaline liquids - which is why tanks and transport containers are made from them. Some steel grades can be in long-term contact with salt water and are therefore found particularly often in shipping.

Costs naturally also play a role. Although stainless steel is a very high-quality metal, it is nevertheless relatively easy to produce. Production costs are manageable compared with other high-quality sheets.

Where can you buy a 5 mm stainless steel plate?

It is probably long since clear that this is not a standard product. Even if you do not want specific dimensions, it is not easy to purchase a 5 mm stainless steel plate locally - it is not part of the usual DIY-store range. Such a special product is a case for the specialist.

Most metalworking companies will probably be able to offer various stainless steel plates. However, they in turn are not set up to produce individual pieces for many different customers. As a result, you are more likely to be offered a deterrent quote than a fair price.

What remains is the choice of a specialist company with lean, largely automated production processes - like us at ESC Burg. We are fully dedicated to cutting and processing stainless steel sheets: not only for large orders, but also for individual orders from smaller customers.

We stock stainless steel in various grades

By focusing on stainless steel as a material, we can advise our customers comprehensively and recommend the optimum alloy for every field of application. Even though the overriding material property of being rustproof applies to all our stainless steel sheets, there can be differences in temperature resistance and resistance to extreme environmental influences. For example, we also stock 5 mm V4A stainless steel plates.

We hold a permanent stock of more than 2,000 tonnes of stainless steel sheet that can be processed immediately after order receipt. We have set ourselves an ambitious target: to cut and further process all orders within 48 hours. As a rule we succeed, and this is the guarantee of our short delivery times.

We also take on further processing steps

As mentioned at the outset, we take on the cutting of all stainless steel sheets. But we also offer further services so that nobody has to attempt to work a stainless steel plate with their own craftsmanship. In addition to individual orders, we can also take on larger orders as contract manufacturing. We offer the following:

Surface treatment

Visual or technical requirements call for different surface structures. Using surface treatment processes such as dry grinding and pickling, we can give every 5 mm stainless steel plate an individual surface.

Forming

For forming, we work in the finishes hot-rolled, cold-rolled, foil-protected and ground. We are happy to produce individual curves, angles and bent profiles for our customers. Multiple bends are also possible with our machine park.

Cutting

This is always the first and most important step in all customer orders. Thanks to our modern machines, which we keep expanding sensibly, we can cut thin and also very thick sheets with millimetre precision.

Personal contact is important to us

Because we do not sell off-the-shelf products, we do not have a classic online shop either. Contact with our customers matters to us, so that we can advise with all our experience. Most of our employees have been working with stainless steel sheets for many years and can determine the customer's needs in a short conversation and then recommend the right sheet. Very often, the end result is a 5 mm stainless steel plate - the best outcome in terms of cost and stability.

Our sales team can be reached by telephone or email. All customer enquiries are answered quickly and competently, regardless of order volume. Once we receive an order, it is manufactured largely automatically - which is how we can offer such short delivery times. To see our offer for yourself, all it takes is a non-binding enquiry. Then we can demonstrate our capabilities at short notice.
